Westwood Families and Community,
Happy 2026! As educators, we usually measure the start of a new year by our school calendar but a new start in January is also a great time to reflect and get excited for the future. While we have already experienced some change in terms of staffing within our building/district (see below for details), our future is bright, and our work with your student brings purpose to all that we do.
As we begin 2026, our goals will remain the same, which are to ensure a welcoming, positive community for our students where they can learn. We want to do our best to help your child love school and help them grow in all aspects. We know that we will achieve this through a partnership with you. We invite you to be as involved in your child's education and our school as much as possible.
In the coming months, we will continue our treasure hunt, set goals for learning, experience engaging assemblies, have a leprechaun leave surprises across our campus, have a little fun at our PTO glow dance, and much more. Happy 2026 Westwood community! We are thankful for you and excited for all that is ahead. Sincerely, Scott Meyer, Principal |
Happy Dr. Martin Luther King Day |

Important Staffing Changes to Note |
.
We have recently had a number of staffing changes that we want you to know about. While staffing changes do occur during the year, they are something we want to navigate well for the sake of our students.
- Mr. Jaime Retires - As we wish Mr. Jaime well in his retirement, we are working to fill the vacancy. Currently, a guest custodian named Mr. Mike has been filling in. We will share information as we fill the position.
- Mrs. Nicole Cline moves to our Independent Learning Center (ILC) - Mrs. Cline has shifted to lead teacher in our Independent Learning Center. Mrs. Cline is passionate about this position and is excited to make this move. Many of you will notice a change in the student pick-up staffing on the playground after school. This is due to this shift.
- Welcome Mrs. Katherine Wiedemann - Katherine Wiedemann will step into our special education role. Mrs. Wiedemann student taught at Westwood and completed a long-term leave position at Kibler. Mrs. Wiedemann will join us for the remainder of this year.
- Dr. Carey - As shared this week, Dr. Carey resigned from the Enumclaw School District. We wish him the best in his future. Deputy Superintendent, Jill Burnes, will begin serving as our interim superintendent for the remainder of this year. We do not foresee any day-to-day impact or changes for our students based on this change. |
