Dear Sunrise Families,
This first week of school has been filled with so many wonderful moments—smiling faces, kids helping each other, teachers and students building strong relationships, and students reconnecting with previous teachers. I also saw a lot of learning happening around expectations. One highlight was our new activity, Expectation Stations, where students traveled throughout the building to learn the expected behaviors in different locations. By being clear and consistent with our expectations, we ensure that students can spend their time fully engaged in learning.
At Sunrise, our commitment is to create a school where every student feels safe, supported, and ready to grow. This happens through strong relationships, clear communication, and partnership with you.
What you can expect from us:
We will treat every child with dignity and respect.
We will communicate clearly and consistently.
We will create space for your child to grow, take healthy risks, and develop resilience.
What we ask from you:
Support your child by helping them get good rest and arrive on time.
Reach out if your family needs resources or support.
Stay engaged by reading and responding to school communications.
When we meet in the middle—with mutual respect and clear expectations—we provide the strongest support for your child. Behind every confident, capable child is a team of caring adults working together. We are honored to be part of your child’s team.
Your partner in learning,
Ashley Ferguson
Principal, Sunrise Elementary

We truly love having our Sunrise families as such an active part of our school community. It means so much to see you here supporting your child’s learning! Your presence and involvement remind students that school is a special place where families and staff work together.
To help ensure our students can focus fully on learning, we kindly ask:
If you are dropping off your student in the morning, please exit the building by 9:00 so our school day can begin smoothly.
If you join your student for lunch, please say goodbye before the class leaves the lunchroom and then sign out in the main office so learning can continue without interruption.
Thank you for partnering with us to create a safe, welcoming, and focused learning environment for every child.

Sunrise has qualified for free breakfast and lunch for ALL students for the 2025-2026 school year! During this first week of school your student came home with a Free & Reduced Meals form. If you think your family may qualify based on income, please be sure to complete and return this form. If enough families qualify, we will continue to receive free meals for all studnets next year as well. Each year of free meals for all students is a result of qualifying from the previous year, so collecting these forms each year is very important. Thank you!
All Sunrise parents and guardians are welcome to come to PTO meetings! They are held the second Tuesday of each month in the Sunrise library at 4pm on odd months and 6pm on even months. We hope to see you there!
