Dear Enumclaw School District Families,
Spring is a season of growth, change, and new beginnings, and across our district, it’s been a time filled with meaningful transitions for our students and families. Last month, we celebrated two important milestones: 8th-grade orientation and kindergarten orientation. These moments mark exciting steps forward for both the Class of 2030 and the Class of 2039!
Our 8th-grade students had the opportunity to visit Enumclaw High School during the school day, where they were warmly welcomed by EHS student leaders. They explored the campus through guided tours, participated in a fun scavenger hunt, and attended an engaging assembly. Students also learned about the wide range of classes, clubs, and athletic programs available to them as they begin thinking about their high school journey. Later in the month, high school counselors visited each middle school to support students in registering for next year’s courses. These were important steps in helping students feel confident and prepared for what lies ahead.
At our elementary schools, we were delighted to welcome our incoming kindergarten students and their families. Our future kindergarten students visited their new schools, met new friends, and even experienced a short bus ride. These early experiences help build comfort, excitement, and a sense of belonging from the very start.
Transitions like these are more than just events, they are opportunities to build strong relationships and lasting partnerships between schools and families. When students feel supported and connected, they are better prepared to thrive. We are grateful to our staff, student leaders, and families for working together to make these moments positive and meaningful.
These important milestones truly set the foundation for future success, and we look forward to continuing to support our students every step of the way.
With gratitude,
Jill Burnes Superintendent

ESD Superintendent Search |

|
The Enumclaw School District Board of Directors is conducting a search for the next superintendent of Enumclaw School District.
Selecting a superintendent is one of the most significant responsibilities of the Board. The individual chosen will help shape the direction and success of our district for years to come. The Board is committed to a thoughtful and transparent process and values the insight of students, families, staff, and community members. Community input will play an important role in developing the leadership profile and informing the Board’s final decision.
COMMUNITY INPUT AND PARTICIPATION
The Enumclaw School District Board has retained the executive search firm Northwest Leadership Associates (NWLA) to conduct a national search for the next superintendent.
The first step in this process is to develop a leadership profile to identify the ideal candidate. Responses to the following survey will assist the Enumclaw School District Board of Directors and Northwest Leadership Associates in developing the leadership profile that will guide the selection of the next superintendent.
Here is how you can participate:
Leadership Profile Survey English
Leadership Profile Survey Spanish
The survey will close on April 22, 2026.

ESD Elementary #6 Updates |
Planning and design work for the new elementary school began in January and will continue through the summer.
An Educational Specifications, or Ed Spec, workshop engaged staff and administrators in a collaborative process to help define the functional and spatial needs for each area of the new school. Approximately 13 Enumclaw School District staff members representing a variety of roles participated. Their input helped identify how each space should support teaching, learning, and community use. Ed Spec and programming meetings with user groups were completed on January 22, 2026.
The Design Advisory Committee held its first meeting on February 12, 2026, and began providing input on classroom layouts, educational spaces, technology integration, storage solutions, and other learning environment considerations. The committee met again this week for its third meeting to continue its work on the school’s design.
The Oversight Committee also met on February 12, 2026, to begin monitoring budget and project processes. The committee is scheduled to meet again on April 9, 2026.
The project has now completed the validation phase. During this phase, the district and design-builder worked together to confirm that the project scope, cost, and schedule are aligned and achievable before moving into final design and construction. This work included developing educational specifications and program standards, validating the schedule and cost model, and identifying and mitigating risks.
Next Steps:
Phase 1: Design and Preconstruction Schematic design approval by the School Board.

Naming Our New Elementary School |
Thank you to all the families, staff, and community members who submitted school name and mascot ideas to the Naming Committee. The survey received more than 200 submissions for the committee’s consideration.
The committee, made up of dedicated community members, met on March 26 to review submissions and narrow the list of possibilities for Ten Trails residents and community members to provide feedback on.
Next Steps:
A feedback survey for families and community members residing in Ten Trails is now open and will close on Friday, April 10, 2026, at 4:00 p.m.
The Naming Committee will meet again on April 23, 2026, to bring forward three final recommendations to the Enumclaw School District Board for consideration in May.
