Dear Enumclaw School District Families,
I am pleased and deeply grateful to share that both of our school levies are currently passing. The Educational Programs & Operations (EP&O) levy is passing at 54.42%, and the Instructional Technology levy at 54.09%.
Maintaining this funding will allow us to continue to provide high-quality educational programs, essential staffing, and meaningful opportunities for our students. This stability is critical to our work and to the continued success of our district. Thank you, voters!
The remainder of this message is intended to give you an update on several important projects happening in our school system.
Qmlativ (New Skyward Student Information System)
Enumclaw School District is currently upgrading our student information system. Because of this, our Student Information System (SIS) is offline until February 23rd as we transition to the new platform. During this time, you will not be able to log in to Family Access. Following the mid-winter break, we will be fully live on the new system.
This also means logging onto Family Access will change. We will send out communication following mid-winter break to assist you in logging in and navigating the new system.
ESD Elementary School #6
We are excited to share continued progress on the construction of Elementary School #6.
This project is being delivered through a model called Progressive Design Build (PDB), which differs from the traditional design-bid-build method used for previous projects. In this model, the district selects both the design team and construction team to work collaboratively from the outset. This approach allows for faster project delivery, greater cost control, and improved coordination throughout the process.
In January, the district selected Korsmo as the construction partner and TCF Architecture as the design partner. The project is currently in the preconstruction phase. District standards, site planning, and educational specifications have been completed.
This week, the Design Advisory Committee met and began to provide input on classroom layouts, educational spaces, technology integration, storage solutions, and other learning environment considerations. In addition, the Oversight Committee met to begin monitoring anticipated budgeting for this project.
Because of the Progressive Design Build model, you will see this project move forward quickly.
One exciting milestone ahead is naming the new school and selecting its mascot, which must be finalized by May. We are fortunate that Chris Beals, former Deputy Superintendent of the Enumclaw School District, has agreed to serve as a consultant and lead this process. This will be a meaningful opportunity for community involvement, especially for the students and families who will one day call this school their own.
The first step in the naming and mascot process will take place the week after midwinter break, when we launch a district and community-wide survey inviting submissions for the school name and mascot. In the coming weeks, a representative committee will be formed to guide the process and ultimately bring forward three final recommendations to the School Board for consideration.
We will also be posting a job for Planning Principal in the coming weeks. This position will begin in Fall 2026 and will play a critical role in guiding decisions related to construction progress and establishing the school’s operating systems, including staffing, scheduling, culture, safety, and family engagement.
While construction timelines can shift, the current goal is to open Elementary School #6 in Fall 2027.
For ongoing updates and additional information, please visit the Elementary School #6 page on the district website.
Superintendent Search Update
The Enumclaw School Board has begun the process of selecting a superintendent search consulting firm. The Board expects to select a consultant by the end of February.
One of the first steps in the search process will be gathering input from staff, families, students, and community members regarding the qualities and leadership characteristics desired in the district’s next superintendent. This feedback will help shape the position description and ensure it reflects the priorities and values of the Enumclaw community.
We encourage community participation when engagement opportunities are shared in early March.
We appreciate your continued partnership and engagement as we move forward in these important initiatives for our district.
Have a wonderful mid-winter break.
With gratitude,
Jill Burnes
Superintendent
