Dear Enumclaw School District Community,

Homecoming

This week has been one of celebration, school spirit, and time-honored tradition as our school community marks another memorable Homecoming. Throughout the week, students, staff, and community members came together for various spirited activities, offering everyone a chance to be involved in the festivities. From pep assemblies to spirit days and athletic events, there has been something for everyone to enjoy. I had the honor of serving as the starter at this week’s cross-country meet, which was a fantastic way to support our student-athletes and celebrate Homecoming in a new and meaningful way.

A highlight of the week will occur this evening with the return of many of our past graduates, whose presence reinforces the lasting connection this community shares with Enumclaw High School. Their participation in the Homecoming Parade will undoubtedly fill the streets with energy and pride while giving our current students a glimpse of the lifelong relationships formed through shared experiences. Tonight’s Homecoming football game will be the perfect way to close out these celebrations, as our Hornets face the Federal Way Eagles under the lights of Pete’s Pool. We invite everyone to join us, cheer on our team, and enjoy the excitement of this long-standing tradition.

As the week draws to a close, I am confident the experiences and memories created during this year’s Homecoming festivities will remain with our seniors and community members for many years to come.

Welcome home, Hornets!

Attendance Awareness Month with student at their desk using glue stick

September is Attendance Awareness Month

School attendance is a major factor in student academic success. At all grades, students who miss no more than nine days per school year are the most engaged and and on track for graduation. In fact, by 6th grade chronic absenteeism becomes a leading indicator that a student will drop out of high school.

Everyone plays a part in student attendance - families and school staff are in this together. To learn more about promoting good school attendance and how you can help, visit www.attendanceworks.org

Backpack Program

For families struggling to keep enough food in the house during weekends and school breaks, there is help available. Each Friday, over 300 students of the Enumclaw School District receive food bags containing fresh organic fruit, 4 entree servings, 2 breakfasts, and 2 snacks. Food bags are discreetly distributed at school in such a way that the students remain anonymous to classmates.

If your family could benefit from this program, contact your student’s school counselor or complete the online enrollment form.

This program is brought to families of the Enumclaw School District by the Rainier Foothills Wellness Foundation.
