Dear Enumclaw School District Community,
Honoring the Class of 2025: A Celebration of Possibility
As the 2024-25 school year draws to a close (approximately 12 days!), our hearts are full of pride and anticipation for the graduating seniors of Enumclaw High School. These remarkable students stand on the threshold of the future, one that they will shape with courage, creativity, and compassion.
Their achievements are a testament not only to their own perseverance but to the village that uplifted them. To the dedicated teachers who sparked curiosity and instilled confidence, to the families who provided unwavering encouragement, and to the broader community that championed their growth, thank you for playing your important part.
In the coming days, our seniors will participate in memorable traditions that mark this meaningful transition: Senior Awards Night, Make Them Weep event, EHS Trade Fair/End-of-Year Celebration, and the final day of high school. These events are more than celebrations, they are symbols of transformation, of becoming.
To every parent, educator, and staff member who has helped create joyful and lasting memories during this pivotal time, your care and commitment do not go unnoticed.
To the Class of 2025: You have demonstrated resilience, integrity, and a deep sense of purpose. The world you are about to enter is not yet written, and it is waiting for your ideas, your leadership, and your dreams. You carry within you the power to build communities, challenge conventions, and inspire change.
I look forward with great excitement to seeing each of you cross the graduation stage on June 10th. Congratulations on all you have accomplished, and all you will create!
With pride and hope,
Shaun

Enumclaw – On, April 24, 2025, Enumclaw School District successfully completed a $43,965,000 public sale of their Unlimited Tax General Obligation Refunding Bonds, 2025.
The purpose of the sale was to refinance the District’s outstanding 2015 Bonds. This refinancing will reduce the District’s existing debt and save taxpayers $3.36 million over the next nine years.
The District accomplished these savings by approving the issuance of the refunding bonds at its Board meeting held on February 10, 2025. The District has been actively monitoring bond market conditions and low interest rates allowed the District to exceed its savings target. Interest rates averaged 3.67% on the new bonds compared to 4.95% on the refinanced debt.
The strong result was achieved due to many factors:
i. Continued responsible stewardship and financial management by the District Board and Administration, evidenced by the reaffirmation of the District’s underlying rating of “A1” by Moody’s Ratings on April 10, 2025. This strong underlying rating provided impetus for investor demand for the Bonds, resulting in a lower borrowing cost to District residents.
ii. District officials’ decision to participate in the Washington State School District Credit Enhancement Program (rated “Aaa” by Moody’s Ratings). Program participation is dependent upon voter approval and provides investors with surety for the repayment of the bonds.
“Enumclaw’s school board and administration have worked diligently to secure all the pieces necessary to make this a successful bond sale. Success is measured by the ultimate borrowing cost for the bonds. The lower the cost, the lower the tax burden incurred by our community. All our efforts strive to provide a result that truly honors the community’s support,” said Dr. Shaun Carey, Superintendent.
Superintendent Carey emphasized that the savings achieved today will offset future tax collections, reducing the overall tax burden to district residents.

May is Asian-Pacific American Heritage Month! While initially only federally observed for one week in May, honoring Asian-Pacific American Heritage was expanded to be observed for the entire month of May beginning in 1990. May was designated to commemorate the immigration of the first Japanese to the US on May 7, 1843, as well as the anniversary of the transcontinental railroad's completion on May 10, 1869. A majority of workers who laid tracks for the railroads were Chinese immigrants.* You can visit the Smithsonian Asian Pacific American Center to learn more: *www.asianpacificheritage.gov
