Dear Enumclaw School District Community,
Preparing for Success Beyond ESD
Last Monday, the Board of Directors listened to and participated in a presentation by EHS Principal Rod Merrell and Assistant Principal Kim Herd, discussing several of the "commitments" we are collectively working toward for the students of the district. The district (and each school) views these commitments as the research-based "must-haves" necessary for our students to be prepared to learn, lead, and impact our community and the world.
The presentation focused on specific areas such as student well-being, staying on track for graduation, and ensuring students graduate with a plan and multiple pathways toward success in life beyond high school. Emphasis was placed on helping students acquire the skills necessary to optimize their learning, make positive contributions to the school community, and discover their passion for a career that will allow them to live a life of their choosing.
Given what was shared at a previous work study, where one of our elementary schools presented a similar message to the Board of Directors, there is clear evidence of a through line—a common set of expectations embraced within our school community: if we commit to this, then our students are likely to experience that! Staff, students, and families, your focused work is making a difference. Keep up the great work!
Shaun
