Dear Enumclaw School District Families,

Staff and Students Honored as 2024 AWSP/AWSL Culture Kickoff Award Winners!

This week, I had the privilege of witnessing the incredible achievement of the Enumclaw Middle School staff and several student representatives as they were honored with AWSP's (Association of Washington School Principals) inaugural Student Culture Award! This groundbreaking recognition reflects the purposeful and heartfelt efforts of the staff and students to build a school culture where every individual feels valued, supported, and inspired to reach their full potential.

I am proud of the dedication and perseverance the students and staff have demonstrated in fostering an environment that promotes growth and excellence. Their collective efforts enhance the experience of everyone at Enumclaw Middle School and serve as a shining example for schools across the state. I encourage our entire community to look to their commitment as a model for how we can nurture and serve students across the district.

With deep admiration and gratitude, I extend my heartfelt thanks to the Enumclaw Middle School community for their unwavering dedication to creating a positive and inclusive school environment. Your efforts are leaving a lasting and meaningful impact, and I want you to know that your work is truly appreciated.

Keep leading the way and setting the standard for excellence!

Shaun

EMS Leadership teacher, Mr. Karl Karkainen, worked alongside students to apply for this award this fall. According to the Association of Washington School Principals (AWSP), "this prestigious recognition celebrates schools that have gone above and beyond to cultivate a positive school culture, set the tone for a successful academic year through engaging assemblies, strong themes, and vibrant fall kickoffs, and demonstration of clear strategies to sustain this momentum throughout the year."

A few of the reasons that EMS was selected to win this award include:

The commitment of EMS student leaders to planning assemblies, Timberwolf Talks, and this year's school theme (What You Do Matters: Own It)

Leadership summer planning days where student leaders volunteered to step outside their comfort zones to prepare for the year

Staff and student preparation for the fall "welcome back" assembly in collaboration with this year's theme

Collaboration between EMS staff members on the Admin Team, Building Leadership Team, Culture and Climate Team, and more.

Have Your Housing Circumstances Changed?

At the beginning of each school year families receive a questionnaire to determine eligibility for McKinney-Vento services.

OSPI recommends a mid-year check-in as an opportunity for anyone with a change to their housing circumstances to submit information. The McKinney-Vento questionnaire can be completed at: https://forms.gle/nKGLgV2PNHht5DtF7

IF YOU HAVE STABLE HOUSING, YOU DO NOT NEED TO COMPLETE THIS FORM.

Please contact your school counselor or ESD Student Support Services at 360-802-7125 with questions.
