Greetings Timberwolf Families,
We are in full swing! Students have learned their routines and are getting much more comfortable with expectations. We have spent a lot of time reinforcing the 3Rs and “What you do matters: own it!” which tied in well to our guest speaker, Jamar. We are really impressed with the feedback from students. A phrase Jamar used was that sometimes we walk into school wearing a costume or mask to hide who we are or how we feel so that we won’t look different. But in reality it’s the things that make us different that make us better! We need to be on the lookout for other people who may need what makes us different. In other words, each one of us matters and we need to own it! Students even asked that we continue to focus on this and continue to make it real throughout the year.
Speaking of costumes, Halloween is just around the corner, so I wanted to make sure families were aware of our Costume Guidelines.
Halloween
Halloween Day is still a learning day, so the costume can not be a distraction or a disruption to the learning environment. The School Dress Code still applies, so make sure the clothes are an appropriate length and no inappropriate slogans. The following customer guidelines also apply:
No Blowup costumes
No Full Face Painting
No Weapons or Imitations of Weapons
No Full or Partial Facial Masks
No Beards or Partial face coverings
No costumes depicting violence, or extreme blood and gore
No dog collars, chains or spiked necklaces or bracelets
The Administration has the responsibility to preserve a safe, healthy and positive educational environment and therefore reserves the right to make the determination if any other types of personal appearance may be inappropriate. We reserve the right to ask any student to remove or change their costume.
A positive way to celebrate Halloween is to wear the colors ORANGE and BLACK.
First School Social
We will also have our first school social on Halloween. This will occur after lunch and include a dance, basketball tournament, crafts, photo booth, and more. Students will NOT be allowed to have their phones. See below for more information.
Food Drive October 29-November 15
We are trying something new this year! We will be competing with Thunder Mountain Middle School to bring in more donations as a team against EHS! Can we beat the high schoolers? If you are able to help contribute to the food drive that will be held Oct. 29th-Nov 15, we would greatly appreciate the school spirit and even more so, the community spirit. We know that many of you already donate; we are excited to make this an opportunity for students to feel a part of our community in an authentic, necessary way. A side benefit will be the top class to bring in the most items will receive doughnuts! Here’s a link if you need ideas! Needs List at POM
Student Led Conferences
Mark your calendars! You will sign up ahead of time for either Thursday, Nov. 21 or Monday, Nov. 25. More information is coming soon! We look forward to seeing students with their parents.
Have a great weekend!
