A Message From the Principal |
Dear Kibler Families,
December brings a fun spirit to our school and we love leaning into it. Classes are decorating their doors, and our Gratitude assembly today was a blast. We had a Dance It Up performance, the student council brought a video to life, a Mrs. Morris/Mrs. Curtin class poem about gratitude, a Top Secret Mission under a teacher chair, and of course a chance to honor all the students chosen for showing Gratitude. Such a great way to start the month.
Coin Drive Next Week Our Kibler Coin Drive starts Monday. Each grade has a bear to fill, and every coin helps. Silver and copper help your grade. Green slows others down. All funds support Rainier Foothills. Thank you for helping our students support our community.
A Few December Reminders
Wet and muddy fields are part of the season. We open what we can so kids still get to play. A spare pair of socks, shoes, or even a change of clothes can make a big difference. We are not sending kids to the office for wet clothes. They can always use the covered area if they want to stay dry.
Thank you for keeping drop-off and pickup safe. Driving slowly, listening to our crossing guard staff, and pulling all the way forward really helps.
Have a great weekend!
Go Bears!
Travis

Supporting Respectful Behavior at Home and School
At Kibler, we’re focusing on what it means to show respect—for ourselves, for others, and for our school. When students practice respect, they help create a safe and positive environment where everyone can learn and feel valued.
Families play an important role in helping children understand and live out this value every day. Here are a few simple ways to reinforce respectful behavior at home:
Model it: Kids notice how adults speak and listen to one another. Using calm tones and kind words—even when frustrated—shows them what respect sounds like.
Practice listening: Encourage your child to make eye contact, wait their turn to speak, and use phrases like “I hear you” or “I understand.”
Set clear expectations: Talk about what respectful behavior looks like at home and at school. For example, “At school, being respectful means following directions the first time and using kind words with friends."
Recognize it: Catch your child showing respect and name what you see—“I noticed you waited patiently for your turn. That was respectful!”
By working together, we can help our students build strong habits of respect that will serve them in school and beyond.

***Health Update***
We have several confirmed Hand, Foot & Mouth cases in multiple classrooms at Kibler.
Hand, foot, and mouth disease (HFMD) is a common viral illness, especially in children. There is no specific treatment for it, so it is important to monitor your child for symptoms and report it to the Kibler Health Room if your child is diagnosed.
Symptoms to watch for:
*first symptoms to start showing*
-Fever
-Fatigue
-Poor appetite
-Sore throat
-Pain while eating and drinking
*1-2 days later*
-Sores in the mouth
-Rash with blisters
-Mouth and throat pain is the most common
-Skin rash with flat or raised red spots, blisters/sores, usually located on the palms of the hands and soles of the feet
How it spreads:
-Direct contact with nose and mouth fluids or stool of a person who is infected. People who are infected are most contagious during the first week of the illness
-3-6 day incubation period
Prevention:
-Hand washing/sanitizing
-Sanitizing surfaces
-Remind students not to share any items, especially ones that come in contact with the mouth
-Covering coughs and sneezes with your elbow
When to Return to school:
-No open sore or blisters
-No fever for at least 24 hours without fever reducing medications
-Student is feeling well enough to participate in school activities, and is not coughing frequently or having a runny nose
