November 7, 2025

November is here, bringing with it a season of community, gratitude, and reflection. As we move through this special time of year, I want to take a moment to express my heartfelt appreciation for the continued support, kindness, and partnership that make Black Diamond Elementary such a special place.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for today’s Veterans Day Assembly. It was a powerful reminder of the courage, sacrifice, and service of those who have defended our freedoms. Our students did a wonderful job honoring veterans through their words and performances, and we are so proud of the respect and gratitude they showed throughout the event. To all who have served, we thank you.

As we look ahead, parent-teacher conferences begin on November 20th. These meetings are a meaningful opportunity to connect, celebrate student growth, and set goals for the months ahead. Your involvement and collaboration play a vital role in your child’s success, and we look forward to those important conversations.

November also marks the start of our annual food drive, a chance for our students and families to give back to our community and support those in need. It’s inspiring to see our students learning the importance of generosity and compassion through service.

As we approach the Thanksgiving season, I want to extend my gratitude to our entire school community, our dedicated staff, supportive families, and amazing students. Together, we continue to build a positive and caring environment where everyone belongs and thrives.

Wishing you all a wonderful November filled with connection, appreciation, and warmth.

Monthly Character Trait - Gratitude

This month’s character trait focus is Gratitude. Often we can find ourselves noticing things that we don’t like or that we wish were different. Choosing to appreciate things in our life, things in others, and things in the world can be a challenge, but practicing Gratitude will help us to be more confident, calm, and focused. Primary grades will practice gratitude to support emotion identification, emotion awareness and emotion regulation. For older students, we will practice emotional advocacy, positive self-talk, and stress management.

Weather

Fall is here, and so is the rain and wind!
Please make sure your child comes to school prepared with weather appropriate shoes, clothing, and a raincoat to help them stay comfortable and dry. Recess takes place outdoors even on drizzly days, as we value giving students time for fresh air and play. We only call indoor recess when the weather is truly severe.

BDE Food Drive

Black Diamond Elementary will be collecting food donations for our local food drive from Friday, November 7th through Thursday, November 21st. Your contributions help make a big difference for families in need this season.

Please see the list below for the items most needed.  Thank you for your generosity and support!
