I hope you all had a wonderful mid-winter break and were able to relax and recharge with your loved ones. As we settle back into our school routine, I want to take a moment to share my sincere appreciation for our incredible students, staff, and families who make our school such a special place to learn and grow.

March is an exciting month at Black Diamond Elementary, and we have several events to look forward to! On Friday, March 6th, we invite you to join us for Donuts with Grown-Ups from 8:00–8:45 a.m. This is a great opportunity to start the day with connection, conversation, and community. Please note that parents and guardians must stay with their student during this time, as supervision will not be available until 8:45 a.m.

We are also thrilled for our 5th grade students as they participate in the 5th Grade Music Experience on Tuesday, March 24th. During this event, students will have the opportunity to try out a variety of instruments and enjoy performances by the orchestra, band, and choir giving them an exciting glimpse into future music opportunities.

With spring just around the corner, we look forward to continued academic and social growth for our students. Thank you, as always, for your partnership and ongoing support in making our school a positive, welcoming, and thriving learning environment.

2026 Winter Olympics at BDE

In Library/Media, students have been exploring the exciting events of the 2026 Winter Olympics! We learned about a variety of winter sports and what skills athletes need to compete at the highest level. After researching different events, students completed a fun activity connected to alpine skiing, figure skating or ski jumping. From learning new vocabulary to discovering the dedication behind each event, our students are becoming Olympic experts!

We all experience situations in which we must work with others to accomplish a goal or task in our lives. Whether we are working with friends or someone new, we need tools to help us successfully navigate those situations and maintain healthy relationships. This month’s Character Strong focus is Cooperation. Students will practice cooperation by listening, through conflict resolution and perspective-taking, and by showing up as leaders.

D.A.R.E.

We are excited to announce that the D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) program will be partnering again with Black Diamond Elementary to work with our 5th-grade students!

D.A.R.E. is a nationally recognized program that has been empowering students for decades by teaching them to make safe, responsible choices. The program focuses on educating youth about the dangers of drug and alcohol use while also building essential life skills such as decision-making, communication, and handling peer pressure. Through interactive lessons led by trained D.A.R.E. officers, students will explore topics like self-awareness, empathy, and responsible citizenship. The program aims to equip our 5th graders with the tools they need to navigate life’s challenges and make positive, healthy choices throughout their lives. BDE and the BD Police Department are thrilled to offer this opportunity to our students and look forward to seeing the positive impact it will have on their future.

Stay tuned for updates as the program gets underway!

ESD is proud to honor our music, choir, band, and orchestra teachers and the impact they have daily.
