As we continue through the school year, I’d like to share a few important reminders with our families:

School Hours
Monday–Thursday: 9:00 AM–3:30 PM (doors open at 8:45 AM)
Friday: Early release at 2:15 PM

Morning Drop-Off
Student drop-off begins at 8:45 AM. For safety reasons, please do not drop off students before this time, as supervision is not available until then.

Afternoon Pickup
Parents who are walking up to meet their students may need to wait a few minutes while we keep the car line moving. Maintaining a smooth traffic flow is important to prevent delays for our buses.

Parking Reminder
Please do not park on the street between the drop-off area and the bus loading zone. This space must remain clear at all times to ensure student safety.

Looking ahead, Mid-Winter Break will take place February 16–20. I hope this time provides an opportunity for rest, connection, and enjoyment with family and friends.

We’ve had a wonderful month filled with meaningful learning, student growth, and special celebrations. It has been a joy to see our students engaged, supporting one another, and taking pride in their work. Thank you for your continued partnership and support in making our school such a positive place for learning.

Honesty

February is the month of Honesty. It’s not always easy to be Honest in our words, actions, or thoughts with others or with ourselves. Practicing Honesty with ourselves allows us to identify emotions, be aware of our emotions, regulate emotions, and advocate for our emotions. Honesty through positive self talk and practicing to support stress management are helpful practices that strengthen character development.

PTO - Glow Dance/Glow Run

Thank you to each and every family who came out to our PTO Glow Dance! It was such a joy to see our gym filled with smiling faces, glowing outfits, and nonstop dancing. Everyone had a blast dancing the night away, enjoying delicious pizza courtesy of Molen Orthodontics, and soaking up all the glowing fun.

A huge thank you to our PTO volunteers and staff who helped make this event such a success, we couldn’t do it without your time and support. Events like this truly highlight the amazing sense of community we have at Black Diamond Elementary, and we’re so grateful to share these fun moments together!

REMINDER:  The Glow Run is on Monday, make sure your student is wearing shoes that they can RUN and have FUN in.

Food Drive

We are collecting non-perishable food items, including beans, chili, tuna, canned meats, canned fruits, mac and cheese, and pasta. Black Diamond is competing against the other ESD elementary schools, let’s show our school spirit, come together as a community, and give generously to support those in need!

School Counselor Week

This week, we’re celebrating National School Counseling Week, and we couldn’t be more grateful for our incredible school counselor, Derek! Each day, Derek supports our students by listening, encouraging, problem-solving, and helping them build the social, emotional, and academic skills they need to succeed both in and out of the classroom. From navigating big feelings to tackling everyday challenges, Derek plays a vital role in making our school a safe, caring, and supportive place to learn and grow.

We are so lucky to have Derek at our school. He is consistently available to both students and staff, bringing a calm presence, a listening ear, and a genuine commitment to student well-being and inclusive, caring practices. Our school would not be the same without him—his impact is felt daily in ways both big and small.

The school district is asking our community to consider renewing the two levies in the February 10, 2026, Special Election. If approved by voters, these levies will sustain funding for current services and programs. These are replacement levies. This is not a new tax.
