Welcome back, Black Diamond families! We hope your winter break provided time to rest, recharge, and enjoy special moments together. It has been wonderful welcoming our students back to school and seeing their excitement as they jump back into learning with fresh energy and bright smiles.

As we settle into the new year, our staff is taking time to review and reinforce expectations in shared spaces such as the lunchroom, hallways, and playground. This intentional reset helps ensure our school remains a safe, respectful, and welcoming environment for everyone. We appreciate your support in continuing these conversations at home and encouraging students to make positive choices throughout the school day.

We will be hosting a Martin Luther King Jr. assembly on Thursday, January 15th at 2:05 PM. This will be an in-school assembly, with select grade levels participating. Families are warmly invited to join us as we come together to honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and reflect on his message of kindness, justice, and service.

Looking ahead, we have many engaging learning experiences and special events on the horizon. Staying connected through our newsletters, school website, and PTO communications will help you stay informed and involved in all the great things happening at Black Diamond Elementary. Your partnership plays an important role in our students’ success.

As we begin this next chapter, please keep these reminders in mind:

Students will continue to go outside for recess whenever possible, so please dress them for colder and wetter weather.
Regular attendance is essential—every school day matters and supports academic growth.
Be sure to watch for upcoming events and volunteer opportunities shared through school communications.

Thank you for your continued support and collaboration. Together, we look forward to a year filled with growth, achievement, and memorable moments for our students and families.

Character Strong - Word of the Month

This month is all about perseverance. One way to think about perseverance is “pushing yourself through challenges and obstacles.” We all experience challenges in our lives. We all have moments when we feel like we can’t do it or that we want to give up on a big task. It is important to develop tools that help us work through those challenges in order to grow in those moments instead of giving up. Primary classes are practicing perseverance by following directions, keeping focus, and through engagement. Older classes are practicing perseverance through flexible thinking, organization, and goal setting.

2026 Replacement Levies

Mark your calendars

The current Educational Programs & Operations (EP&O) Levy (approved by voters in 2022) and Instructional Technology (Tech) Levy (approved by voters in 2020) will both expire in 2026. The school district is asking our community to consider renewing the two levies in the February 10, 2026, Special Election. If approved by voters, these levies will sustain funding for current services and programs. These are replacement levies. This is not a new tax. To learn more about these levies and the programs and services they fund, please visit our website: https://www.enumclaw.wednet.edu/page/2026-replacement-levies
